Our Mission

Greetings from Washington, D.C.! This year, GIRA Local is so excited to continue our mission of helping DMV youth to expand their worldview through international affairs education. We want to make International Relations education both understandable, enjoyable, and accessible to all.

Throughout the year, we are looking forward to connecting with your local schools and organizations! Our favorite part of GIRA Local has always been the direct engagement we are able to have with our community. As our program continues to grow, we have loved getting to know your students and staff through our teaching partnerships, Model UN simulations and more. Whether discussing International Relations, social impact issues or even more general debate and communication skills, we are always so impressed by the insights and nuanced perspectives expressed by students, and are looking forward to hearing your ideas!

Our entire staff is incredibly passionate about making any GIRA Local event the best experience possible for all of you. Through participating in leadership exercises, Model UN simulations and starting engaging dialogues through guest speakers and local non-profit organizations, we hope that students will find their experiences with GIRA Local instrumental in igniting their curiosity for international affairs and the world around them. All of our Georgetown University undergraduate staffers share in our dedication to shaping the next generation of global leaders, and we will work as hard as we can to equip students with a robust educational experience.
